Vegetable gardening books written one region at a time. Twelve books are out now across Australia and the United States, each built around its own region’s climate, and a New Zealand edition is being written.
About the Imprint
Every garden sits in its own climate. In South East Queensland the main growing season runs through the cool, dry winter, while gardeners in Perth and Adelaide plan around a dry summer and winter rain. Melbourne gardeners watch for late cold snaps, and in New England the ground freezes hard through winter. The right time to plant changes from place to place, so each region gets its own book.
Each Planting Season book is built on its region’s own climate and frost data, and each one covers the smaller climate zones inside that region. In the South East Queensland book, for example, a gardener in Toowoomba and a gardener in Redcliffe each get timing that suits their own backyard. Whichever month you open the book, it shows you what to sow, plant and harvest where you live.
The book is the reference. The companion app is the day-to-day. Together they give gardeners the calendar, the plant library and a month-by-month plan for the place they live.
The Planting Season Library
Twelve regional books, each written for one climate.
Each title is a 12-month vegetable gardening guide with a full plant library, a month-by-month calendar, and the pests and diseases to watch for in that region. A New Zealand edition is being written now.
Australia
Five books
Subtropical South East Queensland, dry-climate Adelaide, Perth’s Mediterranean west, warm temperate Sydney and cool-climate Melbourne each have their own book, following that region’s seasons month by month.
United States
Seven books
California, Florida, Texas, the Southeast, the Midwest, the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest each have their own book, from Florida’s subtropical calendar to New England’s cold winters. Mid-Atlantic and Southwest editions are on the way.
“In SEQ, the best growing window for most crops is winter, not spring. If your book says plant in spring, it is wrong for SEQ.”

Who It Is For
Planting Season is for new homeowners still learning their local seasons, for gardeners who have lost crops to pests, humidity, bolting or frost, and for anyone who has moved and found their old planting times no longer suit their new garden. It also suits balcony growers, families who want to grow more of their own food through the year, and experienced gardeners who want a dependable regional reference on the bench.
Each one is written to be the book you keep and come back to every month.
